Program Director at NJ Tree Foundation
February 2009As the Program Director of Camden's Urban Airshed Reforestation Program (UARP), I plan, organize, and implement the planting of over 300 large street trees in Camden each year. Residents, schools, churches, and nonprofits apply for trees in their community and work with me to bring their vision of beautiful trees to fruition. Trees weigh 500 pounds and are planted by hand with residents and volunteers. Since 2002, the UARP has planted nearly 5,000 shade and ornamental street trees in Camden with help from over 10,200 volunteers while maintaining a 95% tree survival rate. I have been directing the program since 2009 and have proudly added a fruit tree component and a stormwater management focus to our work. As the Program Director, I also facilitate our community TreeKeepers trainings, sit on numerous committees and boards (ex: the Camden Green Team, the North Camden Greening Committee, the Shade Tree Advisory Board), and assist with fundraising and annual reporting. I truly love this position. Working for the NJ Tree Foundation in Camden gives me a unique opportunity to improve both environment AND quality of life. My passion for people and doing rewarding work is met everyday thanks to this job.
